When I was a boy, growing up in small town North Dakota, all of my birthday cakes were made by our neighbor and close family friend, Janice. She would, and could, make anything my heart desired. I remember going over to her house and looking through piles of the old Wilton Cake Decorating books, fascinated by the fanciful designs and decadent use of sugary frosting. I could do that for hours at a time, marking the pages of all the future cakes I wanted her to make. Watching her bake and decorate those cakes are memories that will always stay with me.

A few years ago, my friend Emma was about to celebrate her first birthday, and I blurted out to her mother one day, “I’ll make the cake!” Revisiting those memories of childhood was fun and exciting, and for the last three years, I’ve made all of Emma’s cakes, becoming a more adventurous in the process.

I want to share that joy of discovery and good ol’-fashioned desserts with each and every person I meet. I look forward to creating cakes and desserts that will make your family and friends happy, and help you create new memories.
